Living this high up, he could almost believe that he was living in the sky. That the Melbourne traffic snarl below him didn't exist, or that his neighbours didn't live in ugly, concrete buildings.
He watched the flock of migrating birds fly across the sky and then shifted in the easy chair with a satisfied sigh. He had to say that he enjoyed doing nothing. He never thought it could be so ... comfortable. Not that he had time to laze around like that when he was at Melbourne General. Life was far too harried for something as frivolous as sitting down and enjoying the sights.
Note: Yes, I'm horribly, horribly late. :( But you'll be glad to know, at least that this story is finally complete! Just one more chapter to go!

Chase adjusted the bandanna around his head, pleased that it managed to stay on. Kim said that the children made it during arts and crafts class and he wanted to make sure they see him wearing it when they visit him in a few hours.
When the door to his room suddenly opened, Chase sat up straighter. Did they decide to come earlier? But only Kim poked her head in.
"You're wearing the bandanna," she said with a bright smile.
And it ended so abruptly too - with the posse from Jericho shooting at ... just what?? Will Hawkins ever be found out? Will America rebuild itself? Will we know what the heck Jake was doing in Afghanistan. Well, we'll never know, will we?
And, no more SKEET!!

Notes: Many thanks to J Daisy for beta-ing. :) And thanks so much for your precious comments, even if there was precious few of them. (Big sniff) Yes, I'm a review whore. :P Especially love long reviews (big hint). This is probably due to the fact that Chase Gen fic is not exactly hot stuff in the House fanfic universe though I've noticed that there are more of them now. Yay! Keep writing them, folks!
Anyway, hope you enjoy this chapter, and I pray the flashbacks won't give you migraines.

Summary: Cameron finds out what Robert Chase has been up to seven years after he left PPTH.
Notes: Many thanks to J Daisy for her beta-ing! It's strange, but when I wrote this story I actually cried at some parts! Shocking, seriously. But I felt so much for Chase in this chapter. :) As usual, please do let me know what you think of the story. :)
PS: Can I say how irritating is it that fanfiction.net is all glitched up and I can't upload the story?
Summary: It has been seven years after Robert Chase left PPTH, so why is Cameron standing in front of his house in Western Australia? Chase angst ahoy!
Spoilers: Up to season 3
Characters: Mainly Chase, Cameron, and one female of my invention.
Note: To be the honest, I think people will look at the summary of the story and go, “Meh.” (Though I hope the Chase angst will pull some readers in.) Which is why I thought this little note should be helpful. Now, this is not really a “shipping” story but a character-study story, with the character being studied Robert Chase, of course.
I wrote this in response to the current story arc between Chase and Cameron (you know, the sex without strings attached story arc) which I'm actually quite intrigued by but not very happy about. The story got me thinking about why Chase is doing it. He obviously knows that Cameron is not into him, and I'm not inclined to think that he's just doing it so that he can have a good lay.
In the previous episode, Fetal Position, it's pretty obvious that Chase has strong feelings for Cameron (and that there's foreshadowing that his heart will be crushed soon. Sob!).
It is my deepest hope that Chase will one day come to find out what can really fill that void in him. Watching him fill it with empty pleasure makes my heart ache. (I don't think the writers will help him any time soon. I mean, what's the fun in that for them, right?)
So, there, the story of how this story came to be. I hope you read it, and pretty please with a cherry on top, drop a review! Thanks. :)
I am the kind of fanfiction writer that only writes when there's a lack of a particular type of fanfiction around. Most of the time I'm pretty content to just lie back in my office chair and search for good fanfic (and hopefully end up reading them).
So, I often write for under-appreciated characters or a “niche” of sorts. Say, general House fanfiction that feature Chase and with no relationships (or slash) to spice up the story. Now, that's a really rare breed, that type of fiction.
Another rare breed is Jericho fanfiction.

Note: This is the chapter which I researched like mad for (like days and weeks, people) but still feel that it's inadequate. :( At times like these, I do wish I have a medical degree! Still, I hope you enjoy it anyway. :)

Chapter 5
Just mere minutes after Chase was stabilised and hooked up to a ventilator (and after House had gotten back from his “session” with Cuddy), Cameron and Foreman sat in the office, still as statues, while House wrote on the white board:
- Mood:
drained - Music:Broadway hits ... yay!
I like it a lot, mostly because the characters' reactions are mostly believable (though House seems a wee bit too nice) and I (cough) like Chase angst.
I find it tough to read though. Half the time I felt like averting my eyes, uncomfortable that I'm witnessing the suffering of a character - even if he's fictional! It also deals with a tough subject, something that makes me hugely sympathetic. A great fic, this one. One of the rare House gen fics out there. Or, at least, I think it's gen.

“Furious is another way of her saying that she's a sore loser,” House answered.

Someone was shaking him. He wished whoever it was would stop, because he could feel sleep slipping away and wakefulness beckoning. And he had a feeling that he wouldn't like being awake. And as he became more aware of his body, he realised that his entire body was shaking, and he was curled up on his side ... and that he was cold and hot at the same time. Then he coughed, and it sent stabs of pain into his chest. The coughing seemed to go on forever but when it finally stopped, it left him panting breathlessly.

oOooOooOooOo
His head was pounding. That was the first thing he realised. That, and the fact that he felt warm. Too warm. As he dwelled on that thought, a cough bubbled out from his lungs and he flinched, surprised at the stab of pain in his chest.
“What the hell are you doing here?!”

Notes: This is my first House fanfic. Now, I must say that writing House fanfic is ... damn difficult! The kind of research you have to do. OMG. Still, despite all the research, I'm pretty sure I didn't get everything right, so to medically-inclined people out there, apologies if I got anything wrong. But I still had fun writing this, so if you love Chase torture, I mean, Chase-centric stories, here you are. (I think there aren't enough out there!) This takes place after "Finding Judas"
Chapter 1
The waitress appraised him frankly. Her dusky brown eyes lingered on his face, then traveled to his chest, as if studying the quality of his rumpled shirt. Then, she met his eyes and lifted an amused eyebrow.
“Well, that's weird,” she drawled in her low, husky voice.
Chase fixed an empty gaze on the brunette.
“Weird?” he asked, barely interested to know what she meant.
“That's your fifth glass of soda for the night. Usually, when a banged-up guy comes to a bar he wants to get drunk. But I think your drug of choice is sugar,” she said, amused.

Spoilers:: 1x09 Homecoming
Notes: This is my first Heroes fanfic, and it takes place right after Homecoming. It's a "fill in the blanks" kind of story. It probably won't be canon when 1x11 comes around, but I've been itching to write this ... something to tide you over until that episode comes around. :)
